Master the art of making homemade dumplings with this versatile Dumpling Dough recipe. Whether you’re craving classic potstickers, steamed dumplings, or dumplings for soup, this dough will be your go-to base. Follow these step-by-step instructions to create your own tender and delicious dumpling wrappers.

Ingredients:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup hot water
Instructions:

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt until well combined.

Gradually add the hot water to the flour mixture, stirring with a fork or chopsticks as you pour. Keep stirring until the dough begins to come together.

Once the dough starts to form, transfer it to a clean, lightly floured surface.

Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic. If the dough feels too sticky, add a little more flour. If it feels too dry, sprinkle a little water and continue kneading.

Shape the dough into a ball and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Let it rest for at least 30 minutes to allow the gluten to relax and the dough to become more pliable.

After resting, divide the dough into smaller portions, about the size of a golf ball. Cover the portions with the kitchen towel to prevent them from drying out.

Take one portion of dough and flatten it with your palm. Using a rolling pin, roll it into a thin circle, rotating and flipping it occasionally to achieve an even thickness. Aim for a thickness of about 1/16 inch.

If making potstickers or dumplings with pleated edges, use a round cutter or a glass to cut out circles from the rolled dough. For other types of dumplings, simply cut the dough into squares or rectangles.

Repeat the rolling and cutting process with the remaining portions of dough until you have the desired number of dumpling wrappers.

Fill each dumpling wrapper with your preferred filling, such as ground meat, vegetables, or a combination of both.

Fold and pleat the wrappers to seal the filling, following the specific instructions for the type of dumpling you are making.

Once filled and sealed, your dumplings are ready to be cooked according to your preferred method—steamed, boiled, or pan-fried.

Enjoy the satisfaction of homemade dumplings with this versatile Dumpling Dough recipe. The tender and delicate wrappers will elevate your dumpling creations to new heights. Whether you’re hosting a gathering, preparing a family meal, or simply satisfying a dumpling craving, this dough will impress your taste buds. So gather your favorite fillings, get creative, and savor the deliciousness of homemade dumplings.
