Introduction:
Creamed Potatoes are a classic and comforting side dish that never fails to please. In this recipe, we will guide you through the steps to create creamy, flavorful potatoes that will elevate any meal. Let’s dive into the details of this delicious and versatile dish.

Ingredients:

4 large potatoes
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Fresh chives or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

Peel the potatoes and cut them into 1-inch cubes.
Rinse the potatoes under cold water to remove excess starch.
Place the potatoes in a large pot and cover them with cold water.
Bring the pot to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 10-15 minutes or until the potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
Drain the potatoes and set them aside.
Cream Sauce:
6. In a separate saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.

Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until the mixture becomes golden and fragrant.
Slowly pour in the milk while whisking continuously to prevent lumps from forming.
Add the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well to combine.
Continue cooking the sauce over medium heat, stirring frequently, until it thickens and coats the back of a spoon. This usually takes about 5-7 minutes.
Combining the Potatoes and Cream Sauce:
11. Add the cooked potatoes to the cream sauce and gently stir until the potatoes are well coated.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
Taste and adjust the seasonings if needed.
Serving:
14. Transfer the creamed potatoes to a serving dish.

Sprinkle fresh chives or parsley on top for added freshness and color.
Serve the creamed potatoes hot as a side dish alongside your favorite main course.
Tips:

For extra creaminess, you can add shredded cheese (such as cheddar or Parmesan) to the cream sauce before combining with the potatoes.
Feel free to experiment with different herbs and spices to customize the flavor to your liking.
Leftover creamed potatoes can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Enjoy the comforting and creamy goodness of these Creamed Potatoes, a timeless dish that brings warmth to any meal.
